Title Spirt Seeker

Portraits with Purpose

Lone Eagle Series

I’ve always been fascinated about the traditions that run deep in the lives of Native Americans.  So much so, that I chose to create my first (ever) bronze sculpture entitled “Spirit Seeker” which is part of my Lone Eagle Feather Series of Three.  Each subject in this series includes a treasured ‘eagle feather’ which is often given to warriors for bravery in battle. The Lone Eagle Series of Three includes ~ “Spirit Seeker” ~   A seated Blackfoot holy man with four braids and an eagle feather in his top-knot symbolizing bravery. He is wearing a buffalo cape “Whispering Winds” ...

Wild Life

Falcon’s Flight

After studying the aerodynamics of  bird feather patterns and flight with master artist, Sandy Scott, I acquired a new respect for the world of birds.  No matter what the species, all bird wings have the same configuration from the smallest canaries to the majestic structure of eagles.  There is one exception – the Condor. My guess is I’ll never get close enough to find out if this is fact or fiction yet my resources tell me it’s fact; I’ll let it at that. I was so inspired by Sandy’s insight that I chose to push my talent to show the bird in both mythical and real life-size sculptures. ...

“Gentle Giants” – My Latest Series of Three

My first sighting of a Gypsy Vanner horse was in an advertisement in Cowboy & Indians magazine about a year ago. I couldn’t believe my eyes.  Here in a small ad was a mystical horse that seemed bigger than life. The flowing mane, tail and feathering on the hooves seemed so surreal; yet perhaps it was the characteristic coloration and massive muscles that truly impacted my soul and inspiration. From that moment on, I was hooked. Today, I continue to immerse myself into events throughout the west that allow me to reconnect with the Vanner breed that was originally bred to pull colorful...

Commissioned Bronze Trophy Goes Viral!

Who would ever think a few years ago that I’d be writing a “Blog” … let alone a quick story about my commissioned bronze horse trophy going “viral”.  In the interest of those who have yet to dive into Social Media (and trust me, this is ALL new to me), Wikipedia notes “The viral spread of an Internet message involves a convergence of modalities, including blogs, social networking sites, and mass media coverage.  Well, to show you... Read More

Commissioned bronze for Canadian Gypsy Vanner Horse Society

Have you ever wondered how a ‘career path’ actually winds its way around your life? Really; who would have thought over 25 years ago that I’d ever be involved with some of the finest equine breeders and trainers in the world, let alone writing a Blog about it!  Today I’m delighted to share a new twist to my artistry that now includes creating a commissioned trophy for the Canadian Gypsy Vanner Horse Society’s North America ‘Vanner Fair’.  Breeders, owners... Read More

Horses and Ribbons

Horses and Ribbons

It’s always interesting and enlightening to attend annual festivals and art shows, yet I’m finding that equine events bring even more to the table.  In addition to the traditional art show environment, there is a special air of excitement as some of the west’s finest bred horses saunter about with their heads held high in a way that only they can interpret. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why I continue to study the intricacies of animals.   This past month, I attended... Read More

June In Person

Meet June in Person

When you live in Lake Tahoe you never know who you’ll be rubbing elbows with; this past summer connected me to singer/song-writer Lacy J. Dalton who co-hosted a real nice event to support the Let ‘em Run Foundation’.  The fundraiser included a Juried Art Show which led to an “Award of Excellence” for my bronze entitled “Horse Power” which is a sculpture of a Friesian Horse. The breed... Read More

The Work of The Hand

Insight into June’s Art

Insight into June's Art

“The work of the hand sculpts a place in the heart” is the spirit of my motto.  I follow it every day and it just seems to be second nature to me.  With my experience in interior design, I had a back ground in color and composition so it was a natural for me to transition into the art of sculpting.  I started with one-of-kind designs for vintage Santa’s to Native American Indians – and dressed them in fabrics to complement the sculptured... Read More

My Art, My Life

I remember Art being in my life from the days of playing with my doll house. My mom would tell you that I was rearranging furniture on stacks of “Reader Digest” books until I had it “right.” No matter where my life would lead me, I was always the “space planning and designer specialist” … even with my toys!
